Advice
One piece of advice I would give to next semester's students is to pay attention in class and do the homework because it helps you out a lot!

Webs and Blogs
I liked all of the webs a lot and I thought that everyone did a really good job on them. The three webs I liked the most were Alex's, Natalie's, and Nicole's. I liked the collage on Alex's homepage and I liked the way the pages were organized. I thought Natalie's was really good too and I liked that it had music and books as the other two pages. I liked the pictures she used and the layout of the pages. Nicole had good color combinations and I thought her layout was good as well. She had a lot of information and it was interesting to read.
The three stumper pictures I liked the most were Mary's, Samantha's, and Jordan's. I liked Mary's because it was of the same dorm that I live in and the way the sun is shining makes it look really pretty! I liked Samantha's even though I couldn't tell where she took it becuase I just thought it was a cool picture and it was very original. Jordan's was also cool to look at. The angle of the picture makes it interesting and I like the pilars. I was very impressed with everyones stumper pictures!

Bad PowerPoint
http://www.cs.trinity.edu/~agonzal2/bad/bad%20powerpoint_files/frame.htm
Out of all the powerpoints, I liked Alex's, Dennis's, and Juan's presentations the most. I liked Alex's use of typos and think they made a good point, and I thought that Dennis's powerpoint was funny and I liked all of the dinosaur clipart. Juan did a good job with the slide color and I liked how they were all white with almost unreadable font.
Things to do:
1. Make your slides professional
2. Be clear
3. Use good color schemes
4. Use key words and be concise
5. If you use a graph, make it clear and easy to understand
6. Cite your sources
Things not to do:
1. Don't mispell words or use bad grammar
2. Don't use contrasting colors that will make the slide hard to read
3. Don't type out paragraphs and read them off to the audience
4. Don't use slang
5. Don't use a small font

Copyright Laws
In order to publish an image on the internet, there are a few copyright regulations I would have to abide by. In order to publish the image, I would have to get permission unless I was using it as commentary or criticism, or anything falling under the fair use guidelines. I would have to cite the source no matter what because the fair use policy only allows me to use the photo without permission; it doesn't mean I can use the photo as my own. Because the fair use policy is so specific and has such limited application, it would probably be a good idea to get permission to use the photo unless I was completely sure that I wasn't violating the copyright laws.

Time Article and Web 2.0
I liked the Time article because I think that it acknowledges the contributions that everyday people make to American culture and society. I agree with some of the points the article makes, such as how people came together in 2006 to help each other and ultimately better the country. While some important figures did let the country down, I think that the combination of ideas and actions on the part of Americans outweighed the negative aspects of the year. By mentioning Web 2.0, the article emphasizes technology's growing importance in the world.
The article I read was titled "Is Web 2.0 Safe?" and it was mainly about the safety concerns relating to Web 2.0. The article pointed out that there are several viruses that don't necessarily harm users' computers, but allow unauthorized people access to restricted website information. This could be a problem with websites that contain banking information and other confidential information. One way this article suggests to avoid web hacking is to use different browsers to do things online that involve your personal information.
I don't know exactly what to think about Web 2.0, but I think that if you are careful about which links you click, you can prevent several viruses. Also, if you use different browers when using websites that have personal information, viruses will be less of a threat.

Microsoft Word Experience
I have some experience with Microsoft Word from high school because I took BCIS 1 and 2. We learned mail merge, labels, and a lot of other stuff that I've forgotten now. I've had to use Word 2007 lately for papers and I haven't really had any problems with it. I think it's actually easier to use, so I like it. There aren't really any specific things I want to work on this semester, I'm sure we'll go over it all anyway. If I need anything I will be sure to let everyone know!

About Me
My name's Andree Gonzalez, and I usually just go by Andree. I'm from Corpus Christi, Texas, which is about 2 hours from here. I went to a really big public high school there with about 3000 people, so coming here is a big change. I was in a local ballet company all through high school, and I'm hoping to continue dancing through college if possible. My birthday is 8/8/88 which makes it pretty easy to remember I think. I'm not sure what my campus activities will consist of yet, but I'm thinking about rushing later in the year. I enjoy going to the beach, windsurfing, wakeboarding, surfing, and pretty much anything that involves being outside and in the water.
I took BCIS 1 and 2 in high school and I've used computers my whole life. I don't really have any special skills, but I know how to use Word, Access, and Excel.
