In order to publish an image on the internet, there are a few copyright regulations I would have to abide by. In order to publish the image, I would have to get permission unless I was using it as commentary or criticism, or anything falling under the fair use guidelines. I would have to cite the source no matter what because the fair use policy only allows me to use the photo without permission; it doesn't mean I can use the photo as my own. Because the fair use policy is so specific and has such limited application, it would probably be a good idea to get permission to use the photo unless I was completely sure that I wasn't violating the copyright laws.

Remember that if you get photos from a free website like Stock.EXCHNG you don’t have to worry about copyrights. Also, Creative Commons provides an alternative to traditional copyrights, with the “some rights reserved” copyright.
